This single storey extension in Bristol was the latest project for Renovate Building and Maintenance. We think the photos speak for themselves…
Firstly, we had to knock down the existing conservatory and garage. The split-level single storey extension was built across the back of the house and the garage was re-built with a slightly wider footprint. The existing external wall to the house was supported with steel beams and knocked through to create an open plan kitchen-diner with a living area. A low level wall was built and wide steps to adjoin the areas.
A Magnet kitchen was fitted with a quartz worktop and an island with a wrap around oak worktop, tiles were added to create a simple splash back and floating oak shelves for display items. A bifold door allows outdoor living with ease and along with the Velux windows keeps the area, bright and airy. Underfloor heating was laid before tiling the floor to the kitchen-diner and engineered oak wood flooring was laid to the rest of the ground floor.
Shelving and cupboards were built into both alcoves for storage and an old gas fire was ripped out and the fireplace rendered ready for the wood burner to be fitted.
A large split-level deck was built in the garden with a toughened glass balustrade to allow easy outdoor entertaining without compromising the view of the garden.
This wasn’t the most straightforward extension build due to the difference in levels throughout the property, but we think it adds more character to the house and creates some separation between the open plan spaces. We’re really pleased with the end result of this extension. Renovate Building and Maintenance can project manage your extension to ensure the necessary elements are considered at each relevant step of the build to ensure a smooth course and a high quality finish.
